Rabbit multiplication

  • Kids have loved keeping bunnies as pets for generations, helped by the stories of Beatrix Potter and others handed down from grandmas and grandpas
  • Rabbit breeders and keepers are responsible when they ensure they look after their pet bunnies well, and never let them escape into the wild
  • The wild pest European rabbit was released on farmland near Geelong Victoria over 150 years ago and spread rapidly across southern Australia
  • Rabbits are followed closely by predator animals like foxes and feral cats across Australia. Foxes and Feral Cats also include bilbys and other native animals in their daily diets
  • Keep your pet bunnies carefully caged and looked after, and they won’t become a problem.

Great Theme

"What ever the outcomes of climate change, generally speaking they will favour invasive species with broad ecological and habitat tolerance. This will exacerbate the impact rabbits have on the natural environment"
